Wow - Google Notebook
This is pretty cool - I think Google is on the verge of starting the microformat revolution here. Mike Arrington just posted screen shots of Google Notebook, which is basically just a bunch of categorized lists. It looks pretty similar to Microsoft OneNote, actually, but a little less structured and with far less features. However, it does include one feature which will be really cool--you'll be able to share lists publicly. It doesn't look like it has any kind of security layer on top of that from the screenshots (it doesn't launch till next week, when it will be at http://www.google.com/notebook).
I see that it includes the ability to add images to a list. And as we all know, Google doesn't stop adding content verticals until it's all done, so I would expect the list of things that can be posted to continually expand and eventually let you add video (from Google Video), products (from Froogle), contacts (from GMail), and events (from Google Calendar). From there, it's a pretty small step to take to let users synchronize public lists, so that a crowd of average people could actually easily collaborate on a list.
Would be nice if they would embrace the emerging microformat standards out there instead of trying to re-invent them as they did with GData. I would imagine they'll pretty much just dictate the microformat standards for the objects you can add to a Google Notebook. Hopefully they'll integrate Live Clipboard at some point and don't try to break what Microsoft's trying to do with it.
